Bicycling is an affordable, healthy,
and fun form of transportation for people of all ages.
There are many challenges to bicycling within Yuba
County due to the natural terrain, river crossing barriers,
and the current roadway system. The Yuba
County Bikeway Master Plan is intended to encourage
bicycling by identifying well connected bicycle routes that
provide safe and pleasant riding experiences for all users.
The Bikeway Master Plan is an update to
the 1995 Yuba-Sutter Bikeway Master Plan.
The previous plan emphasized the urban areas between Yuba
and Sutter Counties. The Yuba County
Bikeway Master Plan expands upon the urban areas and
includes potential bicycle routes in the rural, less
populated areas of the County. The
Bikeway Master Plan also identifies potential bicycle route
connections within the urbanized areas as well as
connections between the urban and rural areas.
The Bikeway Master Plan is intended to
be used as a planning guide in applying for future bicycle
projects. With the updated Bikeway Master
Plan, Yuba County will have additional sources of funding
that the County can apply for
bicycle projects.
Public Workshops were held in September
2011 and February 2012 to receive input from the public on
their concerns about bicycling within Yuba County.
A workshop was held on September 11, 2012
with the Board of Supervisors.
Comments from these workshops and from an online
survey are reflected in the Plan.
At it's meeting of January
22, 2013, the
Board of Supervisors voted to
adopt the Yuba County Bikeway Master
Plan.
