Community Outreach

A major component of the Yuba County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan process is its ambitious public outreach goals.  In addition to the comprehensive all-access website, mitigation staff are producing a series of informational brochures designed to promote awareness of the plan and public safety. A large part of the public outreach and education program consists of a series of community meetings and organizational workshops.  During these meetings, presentations are given to explain the Yuba County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan and it's goal of creating a safer community. The meetings are also held for the pubic to vocalize their concerns over the hazards that affect their area.  You can do the same by attending an upcoming community meeting or filling out this questionnaire. 

The outreach process began on August 13, 2004, with the Yuba County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan kickoff.  Representatives from all local jurisdictions were invited to hear presentations from representatives of the Governor's Office of Emergency Services, California Department of Water Resources, Yuba Watershed Protection and Fire Safe Council, and many others.  This kickoff introduced the planning process to those who were in attendance.

In addition to the kickoff, county hazard mitigation staff have organized community hazard mitigation meetings at locations throughout the county.  These meetings introduced the Yuba County Multi-Hazard Mitigation Plan to the residents of Yuba County.  The meetings were conducted in conjunction with local organizations and county departments to provide a public safety forum to the citizens in attendance.
