CANDIDATE INFORMATION:

Individuals who wish to become a candidate for any
of the above seats must be a registered voter of the district.
-
Nomination papers must be obtained from and filed
with the Yuba County Clerk at 915 8th Street, Suite 107, Marysville.
Important: Please allow 30 - 45 minutes for the
filing process.

Nomination papers are available July 18, 2011
through August 12, 2011. If the eligible incumbent does not file the
nomination period will extend to Wed, August 17, 2011 for any
individual other than the incumbent.

OBTAIN AND FILE A DECLARATION OF CANDIDACY &
CANDIDATE STATEMENT

Between these dates a candidate may obtain
and file a Declaration of Candidacy with the Registrar of
Voters.
-
Candidates who want to file a candidate’s
statement for publication in the Sample Ballot Booklet must
file it at the same time the Declaration of Candidacy is
filed. The statement may not to exceed the word limitation
prescribed by the district governing body. (E.C. §§ 10540 &
13307) Public Exam Period (EC §13313) – Candidate
Statements will be available for public exam for 10 days
following the close of filing.

NOMINATION
EXTENSION PERIOD (IF INCUMBENT DOES NOT FILE)

If the incumbent
does not file by 5 p.m. on the last day of
the nomination period, any eligible person, other than the
incumbent, shall have until 5 p.m. on the 83rd
day prior to the election to file a Declaration of
Candidacy. The nomination extension does not apply where
there is no incumbent to be elected. If this section is
applicable, a candidate may withdraw his or her Declaration
of Candidacy up until 5 p.m. on the 83rd day
before the election. (EC §§ 10510, 10516)

APPOINTMENT IN LIEU OF ELECTION
-
If
only one person or no person has filed a declaration of candidacy
and if a petition to hold an election has not been filed by this
date, a certificate shall be submitted to the Board of Supervisors
requesting appointment of the candidates or, if there are no
candidates, appointment of any qualified person. (E.C. § 10515)
