  Jail Medical Mission:  
 
The mission of the Jail Medical Staff is to provide medical care and manage the physical well being of the inmate jail population.   This is further complicated by the poorer physical condition of inmates as compared to the general population.   Jail staff take every precaution to protect the health of the individual, to restrict the spread of any illness in the jail, and to prevent the introduction of disease into the community by released inmates.
 
Juvenile Hall Medical Mission:  
 
The Juvenile Hall Medical program provides health services to children and youth in Yuba-Sutter  County juvenile correctional system.   Juvenile Medical Services staff provides the following services:
 
  • Acute care services for treatment of immediate, pre-existing conditions;
  • Preventive healthcare, including immunizations;
  • Family planning services, including health education and screening for sexually transmitted diseases; and
  • Referral and case management for minors with complicated medical problems to specialists as well as coordinating their care upon release or placement with the medical community.
 
Jail & Juvenile Hall Medical Objectives: 
 
  • Maintain a healthful environment
  • Maintain nutritional needs
  • Assure immediate care for medical and dental emergencies
  • Assure access to medical care
  • Prevent disease and maintain health
  • Accurate recording of all health problems and services
  • Maintain confidentiality of medical records
  • Contribute to emotional well-being
