So What is the Resource Room?
We
are a job search resource facility that is open to anyone who is
looking for a job, even if they are already employed. The
Resource Room is a collaborative effort and services are
provided by staff from the Employment Services Division of the
Yuba County Human Services Department, Employment Development
Department (EDD), and the Yuba County Office of Education.
All services are available at no cost.
We
Provide The Following Services:

Computer Access
-
Internet for job search
is available through the use of the CalJOBS website or other job
search websites. EDD lists most openings throughout
California on this site and it is updated continually throughout
the day. It is part of EDD's Self Access program designed
to streamline the process of getting employers connected with
the work force. Staff provide basic education about CalJOBS including what it is, where and how to access it, and
basic maneuvering within the system. If a person has basic
literacy (reading/writing) problems staff may assist them on a
limited basis. MS Word is available for preparing job
search related documents such as cover letters, follow-up
letters, and resumes.

Typing Certification
- Testing is five minutes in length and a verification letter is
issued upon passing. Our current schedule is Tuesday and
Wednesday afternoons from 1:30pm to 4:30pm and Thursday mornings
from 9:00am to Noon. If there are extenuating
circumstances, individual appointments may be scheduled,
otherwise testing is administered on a first-come, first-serve
basis.

Assistance with Writing & Revising Resumes
- We have several reference books available for
review and staff may assist if the customer desires.

Phone Access

Local, toll-free and limited long distance calls may be made for
job search purposes from the bank of phones. Phone access
is restricted to the 916, 530 and some toll free area codes.

Fax
-
Free sending & receiving services for job search related
purposes.

Access to Periodicals
- Periodicals include the Sacramento Bee, Appeal-Democrat, and
Capitol Weekly.

Personalized Assistance
- Staff is available to answer general questions, provide DMV
printouts for bona fide CalJOBS listings. On a limited
basis we can assist in identifying & removing obstacles to
employment, practice interviewing skills, provide and facilitate
access to other community resources.

State Disability Applications

Available for pick up during office hours.
At an
employer's request, we will issue and take applications for
employment, and schedule interviews.
Spanish Interpreters are available during most of
our operating hours.
