CalWORKs Employment Services Division
California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to
Kids (CalWORKs) is a welfare program that provides cash
assistance and services to eligible families with children.
If a family is short on cash and needs help with housing, food,
clothes, and medical care, they may qualify to receive immediate
short-term help. Welfare to
Work services are available to eligible CalWORKs adults to help
them prepare for work and find a job. All CalWORKs
recipients, unless exempt, are required to participate in the
Welfare to Work Program.
The Yuba County Employment Services team is
committed to assisting individuals in their efforts to become
self-sufficient by providing a variety of workforce development
programs and supportive services. At the Yuba County One
Stop offices clients are provided assistance from all components
of the Welfare to Work program, including Supportive Services (assistance
with transportation, childcare, and counseling), Work
Experience Program, Job Coaching/Mentoring & Support, Vocational
Education classes including job search readiness and
paraprofessional training, Learning Disability Screening and
Evaluation, and an on-line
or printed Welfare to Work Handbook.
