Yuba County has a unique Salary plan that is based upon Longevity and Merit. A regular employee's salary will be determined based upon successful job performance and years of loyal service to Yuba County. To determine salary a regular county employee will multiply the Base Rate for their classification as specified on the Classification System-Basic Salary Schedule by the appropriate Index Rate on the Index Table. When reviewing the Index Table, please note that the first 5 years of regular county employment, there is approximately a 5% increase between each index rate, and beginning the 6th year the index rate increases by approximately 1.5% annually up to 30 years of service. The Elected Salary is computed in the same manner, however the Longevity Step Index Table is different. The index rate up to the 5th year of service remains unchanged, and beginning the 6th year the index rate increases by approximately 1.5% annually up to 30 years of service. Computation of Salary upon Promotions: Yuba County offers outstanding promotional opportunities. When an employee is promoted to a classification with a higher Base Rate, the employee will have their salary adjusted by multiplying the Base Rate for their new classification as specified on the Salary Schedule by their current Index Rate, as determined by their number of years of continuous regular Yuba County service. Therefore, when an employee promotes, they do not start back at the beginning step.
For more information on how salary is determined please review Article Eleven of Yuba County's Merit Resolution or contact the Human Resources Department at (530) 749-7860.
